Oleg Pugachev

Oleg Pugachev studied product design at the Berlin Weißensee School of Art. After graduating in 2013, he worked for internationally active design and architecture companies as well as on independent projects in the field of furniture and lighting design, which led him to set up his own studio in 2015.

Design always implies a process of negotiating and balancing diverse constraints and interests, as straightforward as the final result may seem. Every project initiates an enhancement and transfer of knowledge with regard to cultural codes and everyday practices, materials and technologies. Dealing with this complexity requires the designer to constantly make (and revise) decisions, accompanied with critical reflection, with the aim of achieving conceptual and formal consistency, adequacy of means and resources – and not least contemporary relevance. My work is driven by such a holistic and pragmatic approach.
